Andrew Hunt is co-founder of The Pragmatic Programmers, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in object-oriented software development and agile development methodologies.
He and co-author Dave Thomas wrote the best-selling "The Pragmatic Programmer: From Journeyman to Master", and "Programming Ruby: The Pragmatic Programmer's Guide" (both from Addison-Wesley), as well as numerous magazine articles.
Mr. Hunt is a columnist for IEEE Software Magazine, and lectures internationally on the subject of software development at private companies and at conferences such as the European Java and Object Oriented conference (JAOO) and ACM's Conference on Object Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages and Applications (OOPSLA). Mr. Hunt has been interviewed in national magazines such as Contract Professional, newspapers, and by various other authors and columnists.
In 2001, Hunt and Thomas were among the 17 founders of the Agile Alliance, a group featuring leaders from the new agile methodologies, including eXtreme Programming, Scrum, Dynamic Systems Development Method, Crystal, and Adaptive Software Development. The resulting Agile Manifesto has been written up in media ranging from "The Economist" to "Software Development Magazine".
Mr. Hunt has a degree in Information and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute Of Technology, is a member of the IEEE Computer Society, the ACM, and the ICCA, and has been programming professionally for about 20 years. When not writing, programming, or consulting, Mr. Hunt enjoys woodworking and playing jazz piano.
